Iran army's ground forces continue drills in Southeast

On the second day of the maneuvers, the army has successfully test-fired newly developed Toofan interceptor missiles. A domestically-made hand-launched drone was also unveiled in the drill. The drone called Farpaad can cause disruption to other drones within the range of three kilometers and gets them out of control. The exercises are aimed at increasing readiness and mobility of military units in response to potential threats. The ground forces' operations are supported by the Air Force and Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base. Iran frequently holds military maneuvers aimed at increasing its defensive capabilities.

USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10) Completes Acceptance Trials

Future Independence-class littoral combat ship USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10) successfully completed its acceptance trials Nov. 18.While underway in the Gulf of Mexico, dolphins appeared alongside the ship. The trials consisted of a series of in-port and underway demonstrations for the Navy's Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV).  Acceptance trials are the last significant milestone before delivery of the ship to the Navy. During the trials, the Navy conducted comprehensive tests of the LCS intended to demonstrate the performance of the propulsion plant, ship handling, and auxiliary systems.  While underway, the ship successfully performed launch and recovery operations of the 11-meter, rigid-hull inflatable boat; surface and air self-defense, detect-to-engage exercises; and demonstrations of the ship's maneuverability to include a full power run in excess of 40 knots. The German Army (German: Deutsches Heer) is the land component of the armed forces of Germany. The present-day German Army was founded in 1955 as part of the newly formed West German Bundeswehr together with the Marine (German Navy) and the Luftwaffe (German Air Force). As of 10 November 2016, the German Army has a strength of 59,136 soldiers. After World War II Germany was split into two sovereign states and both formed their own militaries: on 12 November 1955 the first recruits began their service in the West German Heer, while on 1 March 1956 the East German Landstreitkräfte der NVA (Land Forces of the National People's Army) were founded. During the Cold War the West German Army was fully integrated into NATOs command structure, while the Landstreitkräfte were part of the Warsaw Pact. U.S. Marines with Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Africa and Army Special Forces operators completed their final, joint training mission in Baumholder, Germany, March 11, 2015. The training familiarized the Marines with Special Forces tactics and procedures, paving the way for future operations where the two groups may be working side by side.
